For travellers looking to explore Europe from Canada during the summer of 2025, a variety of Canadian airports offer nonstop connections to various European destinations. We're focusing on Halifax for this article because it's our home airport, and the closest one in Canada with nonstop connections to Europe.

Closest is Saint Pierre and Miquelon - Yes, that's officially France and only about 600 KM away. You can fly there Three times a week with Air St Pierre. The flight takes about 90 minutes.
The next closest is Reykjavik, Iceland, served three times a week with Icelandair. Flight time is just under 5 hours for the 3,305 KM flight. Icelandair offers connections to most of Europe and also offers stopover packages that include a few days in this truly beautiful country. Flights are offered May 30 - October 15
If you fancy the Emerald Isle, direct flights to Dublin are offered by Westjet May 20 - October 12 four times a week. flight time for the 4,163 KM journey is about 5 hours
Going to London? Both Air Canada and Westjet are available to you. Air Canada flies daily year-round, and it's a daytime flight, leaving in the morning and arriving late evening at London Heathrow Airport. Westjet flies the route this summer as well, flying three times a week on an overnight service to Gatwick Airport. Westjet flights commence on April 28th and will end on October 12th. Flight time to London is a pinch under 6 hours. and the distance is 4,600 KM

Amsterdam is back in the schedule from Halifax. Starting May 29th, Westjet will be sending you to see tulips, canals and windmills 6 times a week. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is also one of the best-connected airports in Europe, with rail links to Belgium, Germany and France directly from the airport. Expect to fly there in just over 6 hours. Amsterdam is 4,900KM away. Westjet's schedule stops at the end of October.
If you think Saint Pierre is just too close but still want to go to France, Westjet has you covered this summer. Between May 16th and October 24th, you can go see the Eiffel Tower, cruise the Seine, and enjoy a baguette or a cafe au lait 4 times a week with a direct flight to the city of lights, Paris.
If you've heard rumours that Condor is quitting Halifax - Frankfurt flights you are right, but do not despair as Discover Airlines will be offering flights up to 6 times a week between March 30th and October 25th. The 5,200 km flight takes about 6 hours 15 minutes. Discover is part of the Lufthansa Group, so you'll be able to collect Aeroplan points on this route.
New to the list of connections is Zurich, Switzerland. Flights will operate with Edelweiss Air. Starting July 3rd to October 25th you can journey to the Swiss Alps, go find that delicious raclette or see the magnificent lakes that Switzerland has to offer twice a week. The 5,900 km journey will take about 6 and a half hours.
If you fancy a fancier flight, both Discover and Edelweiss offer a true business class across the pond from Halifax. All other services offer Premium Economy as their upper-scale product.
